The afternoon sky, San Diego, October 21, 2007

Fires from the east blew smoke and ash from 25 miles away.

Overnight, more fires were reported, and the dry Santa Ana winds continue to push the fires towards the west.

We're packed and ready to leave, yet we're hoping and praying for the best.
